Menopause, numbers and letters: 12
12 is the number of consecutive months without a period after which a woman is considered to enter menopause.
Usually this occurs between 45 and 55 years old.
However, these 12 consecutive months of amenorrhea do not always mark the final end of periods: the ovary can start working again for short periods after this year1.
